Located in Henley Brook; this self sufficient community is a non profit Charitable Trust providing a service to the state as a drug and alcohol recovery and remedial centre. The community is completely independent of local scheme water services; therefore requiring its own Potable Water Treatment Plant (PWTP). The community has been in existence for some 15+ years; and the PWTP has a long history of several incumbent operators and the substandard potable water for the community. AWS was requested to redesign, build and commission the WTP early in 2013. Working closely with management at the centre; the WTP was completely redesigned and the process changed to provide complete water to the community that was within ADWG standards. The water supply to the centre is from the Gnangara mound; the water supply has very low pH; high iron and H2S. Utilising their vast experience and knowledge; AWS successfully altered the existing plant; included aeration utilising its unique deferum aeration; added specific iron targeting media filtration; chemical implementation; sterilisation. The plant now provides consistent; reliable and quality water. AWS continues to service the plant; implementing a management and monitoring system to ensure the centre is continually compliant with existing ADWG standards.
