The filter is based on a hydro – automatic system known as “Deferum” which is designed for the non – reagent removal of high levels of dissolved iron, dissolved gases (hygrogen sulphide, carbon dioxide, methane, radon) as well as suspended particles to drinking water standard.

These proven non chemical filters are manufactured and produced in WA specially designed to cope with very high concentrations of iron in bore water.

Technological process:

feed water is pumped from the bore and supplied at 65 psi to the aerator-degasifier (1) where hydrogen sulphide and other gases are removed and high volumes of atmospheric oxygen is dissolved in the water to saturation point. feed water at high velocity flows down the hydro-robot (2) and through the distributor (3) and into the hydro-automatic filter with the floating polymer filtering media (4) where the suspended iron and other particles are arrested throughout the depth of the filtering bed. after filtration, treated water gravity flows via the discharge pipe (6) into storage tanks. as fouling of the filter medium increases, the water level in the hydro-robot (2) rises, creating the vacuum, causing the filter to switch to backwash mode. purified water (5) from above the filter media drops and violently agitates the filtering bed (4), washing out the accumulated impurities and discharging them through the backwash collector box (7) and into the soakwell. when the water level of the clean filtrate (5) drops below the siphon control pipe (8), the hydro-robot discontinues the backwash process and switches the filter into a new filtration cycle.
